Colpo d’Ala is a “Super Piemontese” wine, a blend of highly selected Barbera and Merlot grapes from only a few blocks of our best vineyards. Colpo d’Ala is aged in French oak barrels and was created to reveal the great potential of this unique blend.

Aging Potential:

Colpo d’Ala is vinified and aged in oak barrels for up to 24 months to last for a minimum of 20 years since vintage, improving with time its bouquet and its elegant structure.

Food Pairing:

Match this elegant wine with almost any food. Light pasta dishes (such as Agnolotti Burro e Salvia, a delicacy from Monferrato), beef, pork, aged- and strong cheeses. This wine can also be appreciated alone, as a meditation wine.

Tasting notes:

  • Color: Deep ruby red, almost purple color with magenta rim.
  • Bouquet: Intense, showing immediate elegance, depth and aromatic complexity. Vanilla, toffee, sugar cookie dough and cinnamon on the nose. Hints of licorice and clove.
  • Palate: This wine is medium to full bodied. A velvety texture, with vanilla, blackberry and cassis. Molasses, butterscotch and chocolate and a white pepper finish. Once opened up, this wine reveals more mature fruits such as figs and dried plums.
